First two days

First two days of production down. We’ve already started the road of long days, sore muscles, nicknames, inside jokes, and too much coffee. It’s awesome.

On Friday, we busted out our Bastrop Police car. We turned some heads of the neighbors, especially when Officer Ellison peels out of the scene. Then, we unveiled the rusty yellow bicycle that Stef rides throughout the film. Our Production Designer Claire White did A-1 work transforming a bike she got off Craigslist to an iconic prop for the film. We ended the day on the third floor of an office building where we used movie magic to turn a conference room into a stark juvenile detention visitor’s meeting room.

On Saturday, we caravanned to Bastrop, where we watched the sun rise and set. We shot all day at Bastrop High School. Mad props to the Producers, especially Sarah, who arranged for us to have the totally radical kids from Bastrop High show up to be in our Marching Band and Lacrosse Team. They were cracking us up all day long with their excitement and love for the process. We also wrapped Brooke Friesen, who plays Heidi Jo in the film after about 30 takes of getting punched in the nose.

Looking forward to the next week!

Updates, IndieWire, Casting

Hey y’all! Its been awhile since we’ve update the news on here so hopefully you’ve been following us back on Twitter & Facebook. Let’s start with some good news, we’ve got our locations! There are a few details to iron out here and there but that’s going well. Secondly we’ve got our crew! You might have noticed this as we added the crew page a few days back but there is more than that these are just the heads of the production (thank you to everyone we don’t have on he website by the way).

Now the BIG news. We were featured on IndieWire!!! Yeah it is awesome, but that’s not all folks! The feature has put us in a contest on IndieWire for Project of the Week which will does have prizes for the film such as consultations with industry contacts. So make sure to go on to IndieWire and vote for us!

Lastly, I’d like to say we have our cast set! Yes we are just full of exciting surprises right now. Anyway the cast is set, we’re just waiting on a few last details before we release the cast on the website. However we’ll hopefully have everything updated and ironed out this weekend, so make sure to check in a couple times over the weekend to see the updates.

Thank you all for your support, interest, and time. And we can’t wait to share more as we continue on this filmmaking process.

One last side note. While we have reached our initial goal on Kickstarter please continue to donate and tell your friends about us as that was just our initial goal and with every bit more, hopefully we can exponentially make this film better and better.

Kickstarter

We’re hugely excited to be launching our Kickstarter campaign today! We’re reaching out to our community to help us fund a portion of this film. Funds raised from the Kickstarter will help build the Production Design, pay for the stunt coordinator, and rent the generator that will bring light to the forest at night. This campaign is a critical element to making Lost Pines happen. I hope you’ll check us out and share!

Role Call!!!

So our first round of casting is officially in the books! We had a great day meeting many wonderful potential actors for various parts in Lost Pines. It was great to see the lines actually being read and brought to life in ways that we had imagined it and sometimes in different or even better ways! Still have one more round of casting to be done to decide but today was a great start and everything is starting to feel real now.
